Sarah Walker named Outstanding Junior Member 2011

The Nahoula Chapter of DAR had its first meeting of the 2011-2012 year in January. Regent Dell Scoper presented Sarah Saucier Walker with the 2011 Outstanding Junior Member Award for the Nahoula Chapter of NSDAR.

Sarah graduated cum laude from Belhaven University in Jackson, MS, in 1998. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Business. She has been employed by various brokerage firms since 1999 and has passed the Series 7, 63, 65, 24 and Mississippi Insurance License Exams.

Since 2005 Sarah has been employed by Trustmark National Bank as a Registered Sales Assistant. Sarah is an active member of First United Methodist Church in Laurel. She currently serves as the chairperson of her Circle, as a member of the Church Council, and as a Liturgist.

Sarah’s truest passion is the rescue and re-homing of abused and abandoned animals. She has served as the President of the Laurel Animal Rescue League and is currently a board member. She participates in many Animal Rescue League fundraisers each year as well as rescuing and fostering animals on her own.

Sarah recently served as treasurer of the Nahoula Chapter and is currently assistant treasurer as well as the chairperson for the American History Essay Contest and the Christopher Columbus Essay Contest. She also enjoys genealogical research in order to add more supplemental lines to her DAR record.

Mayor Declares Constitution Week

Laurel Mayor Melvin Mack signed a proclamation on Monday declaring September 17-23 as Constitution Week. Constitution chairman Marily Biglane (second vice regent) and Junior Member Annalee Patrick were in attendance for the signing.
